How do I become a Christian?

What must I do to be saved and to become a Christian?

This is not easy because it takes real commitment that comes from the heart.

Here are six steps to acknowledge for the believer:

Step 1: Acknowledge That You Are a Sinner (Romans 3:23).
Step 2: Recognise That God Did Something About It (John 3:16).
Step 3: Receive Christ as Your Saviour (Romans 6: 23).
Step 4: Confess Sin and Get Rid of it (1 John 1:9).
Step 5: Confess and Believe Jesus Is Saviour and Lord (Romans 10:9-10).
Step 6: Be baptized  (Matthew  28:19, Mark 16:16).

To enter God’s kingdom, you must be born again. Just look to Jesus Christ, who died for your sins on the cross, and believe in Him and His love for you, and that transformation will take place. Thus the question, "Have you been born again by the Spirit of God?" If not, the process is very simple. It is not easy for the unbeliever.

Today you’re in one of two camps; it all depends on your relationship to Jesus Christ. You can both believe and look in faith to Jesus, who died for you on the cross; or you can continue going on as you are. It’s an amazing thing—to be lost; you don’t have to do anything. Just keep on doing what you’re doing now and you will perish.

But, if you look to the cross and believe in the One who died for your sins, then the free gift of God is yours... The gift of eternal life.

The Bible says:

For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God—Romans 3:23

Repent therefore and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out—Acts 3:19

For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life—John 3:16

If you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved—Romans 10:9

What Next?

Here’s a prayer for you to say if you want to:

Dear Lord, I know that I have sinned against you and against others and I am sorry.
I believe in my heart that you sent your Son to die for me on the cross.
Please come and live in my heart and be my Saviour;
I receive you now.
I turn away from sin and ask that you help me to do this.
I confess with my mouth that Jesus is my Lord and Saviour and believe in my heart that He rose from death.
Thank you Lord for saving me, Amen

If you have decided to accept Jesus Christ as your savior, you are now born again. Here are a few things that will help you to grow as a Christian...

PRAY—prayer is like a telephone line that goes directly to God. It's important to spend time talking to Him every day, the more the better (Philippians 4:6).

READ THE BIBLE—the Bible is like a love letter from God. The more you read it, the more you'll fall in love with Him (1 Peter 2:2).

FELLOWSHIP—you need to have friends who share your beliefs and who can encourage you. This is why it's so important to find a good, Bible-believing church where you can meet other Christians (Hebrews 10:24-25).

WITNESS TO OTHERS—share your faith in Jesus Christ with others. Pray that the Lord will reveal how you should witness and when (Mark 16:15).

God bless you and we pray that you continue to grow closer to the Lord every day!

Brian’s Prayer

Show me the way oh Lord so that I may know where to go.
Hear my cry for understanding of your wonderful grace.
Lead me along the road that leads to heaven.
Fill my heart with love and compassion,
As a human I am limited in strength.
That’s why I need Your wise guidance.
Fill me with Your consideration for others,
So that I may share with them the lasting happiness You provide.
Amen.

What we beleive

We accept the revelation of God (Father, Son and Holy Spirit) given in the Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments, and confess the historic faith of the Gospel therein set forth. We here assert the doctrines which we regard as crucial to the understanding of the Faith, and which should issue in mutual love, practical Christian service and evangelical concern:-
§         The sovereignty and grace of God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit in creation, providence, revelation, redemption and final judgement.

§         The divine inspiration of the Holy Scripture and its consequent entire trustworthiness and supreme authority in all matters of faith and conduct.

§         The universal sinfulness and guilt of humankind, making him subject to God's wrath and condemnation.

§         The substitutionary sacrifice of the incarnate Son of God as the sole and all sufficient ground of redemption from the guilt and power of sin and from its eternal consequences.

§         The justification of the sinner solely by the grace of God through faith in Christ crucified and risen from the dead.

§         The illuminating, regenerating, indwelling and sanctifying work of God the Holy Spirit.

§         The priesthood of all believers, who form the universal Church, the Body of which Christ is the Head and which is committed by His command to the proclamation of the Gospel throughout the world.

§         The expectation of the personal, visible return of the Lord Jesus Christ in power and glory.
